Education of gifted children in Lithuania: they also need help
The head of the center says: I often hear that if a child is gifted, then he is so in all areas and is ahead of his peers. Not necessarily. For a gifted child, it is also very important how he feels in the environment, what others think of him. He will feel good where his talents do not prevent him from making friends. This is constantly reminded by the coordinator of our center’s team of psychologists, Dr. Jurga Misiūnienė. Bullying due to high achievements, unwillingness to make friends – these are natural reasons why gifted students, especially teenagers, prioritize friends over studies.
