Lithuanian-born Israeli parliamentarian and education expert: learning is like a sport
“Education can be compared to sports. There is amateur sport and professional sport. Both are equally important, but they require a slightly different approach and different methods. Some people just want to be active and healthy, while others want to achieve the highest results. I think we need to encourage both,” said S. Davidson.
According to him, for now, unfortunately, there is still tension between two approaches to education – one that emphasizes equality, seeks to help those who have difficulty learning, and a system that emphasizes abilities and rewards high achievements. According to him, this should change. “Our goal should be to balance both approaches wisely and not to neglect the different needs and interests of children. If we can reconcile these things, we can expect multiple benefits. In the short term, we would have more happy children, and in the long term, we would raise many talented people who will integrate into society and the economy and contribute their skills to serve the people, the state, and even the world,” emphasized Israeli MP and education expert S. Davidson.
