UPDATED! We invite you to the training “Trends in the Education of Gifted Students”
The International Lithuanian-Israeli Gifted Education Program “Gifted” and the Vytautas Magnus University Academy of Education are organizing the training “Trends in the Education of Gifted Students” on February 28 – March 2 in Kaunas, V. Putvinskio g. 23.
The training will be conducted by the Dean of the Faculty of Education of the University of Haifa, Israel, Professor of Mathematics and Gifted Education, Dr. Roza Leikin, and Professor of the Departments of Special Education and Learning Disabilities of the University of Haifa, Dr. Mark Leikin.
The topic of the first day of the training is – Giftedness and High Intellectual Potential: Models, Definitions and Paradigms. The participants of the training will be introduced to the main models of giftedness and the characteristics of gifted students included in these models. Creative activities will be held to realize the intellectual potential.
The second day is dedicated to creativity, as one of the main characteristics of giftedness and the main skills of the 21st century. Different creativity methods and their role in determining giftedness will be presented and discussed, and the biological basis of creativity will be discussed. Participants will be invited to a seminar where creativity development and assessment tools will be demonstrated.
The training will conclude with the topic – Double exceptionality (2E students) – who are they? Can gifted students from special needs groups be gifted? Participants will be introduced to the concept of double exceptionality and the main characteristics that contribute to double exceptionality. It will also be discussed how gifted teachers should teach gifted students. It is planned to discuss the knowledge and skills of teachers necessary for the education of gifted students.
